How long does it take to get a simple website up and running?
Once I've got a good idea about how you'd like the site to look, a first draft can normally be up and running in a few days. There will likely be a few tweaks though until it's just right!
What if I want something a bit more complex?
In most cases that's fine, I've worked on many complicated sites, however I'd need to work out timescales and provide a quotation.
Is there any on-going commitment?
No, once the website is finished there is no further commitment. However I offer a maintenance package starting from £10 per month for a small website so that you can make small changes, while I keep all the background code updated to the latest releases.
Can I add extra features later?
Yes please let me know what extra features you would like and I will provide a quotation.
Can I update the website myself?
Yes, you will be able to add as much content as you wish without coming back to me, and in many cases change the colours, fonts etc to suit.
Are there any hidden costs?
Every year (or every 2 years) you’ll need to renew your domain (that’s the www. address), your hosting package (which holds all your pages) and your SSL certificate (that’s the security certificate). Typically this comes to under £100 but may be higher for large websites.
Can we meet up? Or is all done by phone and email?
If you live or work anywhere near Letchworth Garden City then yes it would be much better to meet up even if only once, at the planning stage.
Can you provide images?
Yes I can provide stock images - they cost £6 each, however I always like to include your own photographs if possible because they just seem more personal. I can provide a quotation for photography if required and/or improving existing images in Photoshop or Lightroom.
